Questions before you start
Clear scope makes better work.
The important details about services, pricing and how we handle shop information.
Getting started
What does FaultZero offer?
Custom software, automation and practical improvements for truck and trailer repair shops. We can configure compatible existing tools, adapt tools already built or create what your shop needs. Heavy-duty diagnostic assistance, diagnostic coaching and Parts lookup setup are also available as separately scoped services.
Do we need to replace our shop software?
A useful change may start with your existing tools. We can also adapt an existing FaultZero tool or scope a custom build where it helps. Compatibility, usable exports, permissions and any proposed integration must be checked before scope is agreed. No named integration or universal software compatibility is promised.
Can I request diagnostic help without an appointment?
Yes. No advance appointment is required to request help. Availability, suitability, scope, rate and spending limit are confirmed before paid work. A request is not a promise of immediate support, same-day arrival or dispatch, and you do not need to purchase an operations pilot first.
Where do you offer local pilot visits?
Initial operations-pilot site work is considered at selected shops 10-25 straight-line miles west, southwest or northwest of ZIP 60156. The actual address and availability are confirmed individually. This is not a road-mile estimate or an all-directions service area.
Custom software and automation
What tools have you built?
Shop Command brings together shop inventory, services, expenses, labor hours, shop tools, invoices and assistance grounded in loaded shop and service records. Surplix helps prepare obsolete or used inventory for resale with less manual work. LeaveBoard's supplied synthetic demo screens demonstrate its calendar, clock-in/out, time-off and administration interfaces, alongside PTO planning and management tasks. Availability and setup are agreed for each shop. These are selected tools built, not customer success stories or a promise that every feature is ready for your shop.
Can a tool use our shop's branding?
Yes, shop-branded or customized delivery can be included in an agreed scope. Confirm branding, features, integrations, hosting and support before work begins. Delivery details and any ongoing service are agreed for your shop.
Is a custom build included in the $1,500 pilot or $6,000 implementation?
Custom software and automation builds require a separately agreed scope and quote. The $1,500 operations pilot is a bounded starting engagement for one workflow. The $6,000 operations implementation covers two agreed workflows and credits only the $1,500 base pilot. Those prices do not cover an unspecified custom application.
Can you build a repair-knowledge assistant for our technicians?
A custom assistant can be built to help find standard repair time (SRT) per job, repair information, fault-code diagnostic guidance and previous fixes in an approved document collection. This is a prospective custom capability, not a deployed product. Source references, vehicle applicability and uncertainty belong in the answers; technicians must check the evidence and use their judgment. Document-use rights, access and processing arrangements are checked before customer implementation. No universal diagnosis or accuracy guarantee is offered.
Operations pilot and implementation
What does the $1,500 pilot cover?
One location, one agreed export format, up to 60 repair orders and 100 supplier/credit lines, up to 20 reviewed source-linked exceptions, one practical control, written instructions and staff handoff. The review may find zero recoverable amounts. It is not an audit or certification of the entire shop.
How long does the pilot take, and is a visit included?
Ten business days after usable records arrive. One scheduled local visit of up to two hours is for discovery OR handoff; the remainder is remote. The actual address and visit timing are agreed before purchase. Optional coaching or setup adds time, so the full visit duration is agreed in advance.
How does the pilot credit work?
Implementation is $6,000 total for two agreed workflows, including only the credited $1,500 base pilot. That leaves $4,500 after the base-pilot credit. Diagnostic sessions and optional coaching/setup are separate services and do not increase that credit.
Is ongoing support required?
No. The optional $2,000/month operations-support service is offered only where recurring work justifies a separately agreed scope, cadence, limits and responsibilities. It is not unlimited administration, diagnostic assistance, coaching or 24/7 support.
Will every flagged record result in recovered money?
No. A mismatch may be correct, already resolved, unsupported or subject to warranty or fixed-price treatment. Authorized staff review the evidence and decide whether an action is justified. Delayed billing, expected credits and incremental profit are different things.
Diagnostic assistance, coaching and parts lookup
How is remote diagnostic assistance priced?
$125/hour, with no remote minimum. Scope, availability and spending limit are confirmed before work begins. One vehicle and one agreed issue are covered by the authorization. The spending cap is not an automatic charge; the brief suitability and availability check is not a paid session.
How is on-site diagnostic assistance priced?
$175/hour, with a two-hour minimum of $350 and no separate travel surcharge. Location, availability, scope and spending limit are confirmed before work. Additional work needs approval; no immediate or same-day arrival is guaranteed.
What must be available for remote assistance?
Authorized information access, suitable licensed tools and a technically capable person at the vehicle. Compatibility and scope depend on the particular vehicle, equipment and experience. Parts, physical repairs, programming, subscriptions, specialist access and return-to-service certification are not included. No emissions-defeat work.
What does the diagnostic-coaching add-on include?
Same-visit diagnostic coaching is +$395 for two hours on one agreed topic, with up to four participants. It uses your shop's authorized tools; the platform, equipment and topic are confirmed beforehand. Software licenses, subscriptions and hardware are not included, and the session is not an open-ended promise to fix a truck.
What does Parts lookup setup include?
Same-visit Parts lookup setup is a separate +$400 service. We organize the agreed lookup resources and provide a practical walkthrough. Selected manufacturers, platforms, authorized access and setup scope are agreed before starting. The fee does not automatically cover every listed platform, and manufacturer accounts, licenses and subscriptions are separate where required.
Which manufacturers are included in the coverage lists?
The Diagnostic coaching & parts lookup setup page lists the owner-supplied coverage in two separate sections. The names describe manufacturers, not a verified count of software products. Selected platforms and access are confirmed for each service; coverage does not imply OEM affiliation, certification, universal compatibility or software-license sales.
Are the optional services the same as the pilot handoff?
No. The base pilot already includes instructions and staff handoff for its agreed control. Optional coaching and Parts lookup setup must add genuine, separately agreed work. Their time is not also billed as hourly diagnostic assistance, and any change to paid troubleshooting needs a separate approved scope.
Are the displayed prices before tax?
Yes. Displayed service prices are before any applicable tax. Scope and price are confirmed before paid work. An inquiry does not authorize a charge or reserve an appointment.
Records, decisions and limitations
Who approves changes to our records?
Authorized shop staff approve invoices, credits, repairs and communications. A flagged exception is not permission to bill, and FaultZero does not promise autonomous financial posting.
Can I upload records with my inquiry?
No. The general inquiry form does not accept attachments. First agree permission, minimum necessary fields, redaction and transfer arrangements. Do not send repair records, sensitive customer or employer information, vehicle identifiers, passwords, access tokens or payment-card details in an inquiry.
Does sending an inquiry book work or approve payment?
No. An inquiry starts a fit and availability conversation. Work, timing, scope and any spending limit must be agreed separately. Do not send card information through the form or email.
Are savings or a completed repair guaranteed?
No. An operations review may identify no recoverable amount, and diagnostic assistance does not promise to fix every truck. The opportunity calculator shows an editable capacity-value scenario, not cash profit, guaranteed savings or a recovery forecast.
